Commissions will be priced according to subject matter, materials needed, and time it will take to complete the project at $20/hr. For reference, an 8x10 oil painting will take me roughly 10 hrs depending on difficulty.

 

It helps me to work from photographs for commissions as it gives me an idea of the subject in a 3D perspective. Please note that I might refuse a commission if the photograph(s) are not a good reference for painting (blurry, too far, not enough light contrast, etc.) or if I am unable to understand what the client is wanting.

 

 

Steps to purchasing a commission:

If you are interested in commissioning something from me, please send an email to cakeinacrisisart@gmail.com with what it is you’d like, size of artwork, if you’d like realism or abstract, and any other details that are important to you. Upon receiving this information, I will send you a commission contract.

 

The commission contract will include the specifications of the painting, framing, copyright, time frame, delivery, etc. In order to secure the specified estimated date of completion in my schedule and for any work to begin, including work on the draft, an initial deposit of 50% of the total price of the commission is required as proof of acceptance of the contract (as well as a written consent by email). You will have 10 days to send the consent and the deposit.

 

As soon as I receive the deposit and the consent email, I will make a rough sketch of the painting and I will keep touching it up until we agree on the final vision. If any changes need to be made to the initial contract (like type of background, size, etc), I will send you an amended contract with the new details on which we agreed. Please note that once I begin painting, I will not send photos of the work in progress, as the process of art tends to be “ugly” and will not resemble the final product.

 

Once the final artwork is finished, you will have 10 days to pay the remaining 50%. After final payment is receieved, the painting will be delivered as previously agreed. If you are not satisfied with the painting, I will keep the art and the initial 50% deposit and there will be no further obligation on your part.
